Geoffrey Owens Speaks Out After Trader Joe’s Pictures Go Viral

If you didn’t spend?a couple weeks ago experiencing and enjoying the final, humid gasps of summer, it’s likely you have seen social websites explode when using the story of actor Geoffrey Owens. Most commonly known as Sondra’s husband Elvin on?The Cosby Show, Owens was recently balancing the budget between gigs working in a Trader Joe’s, where he was recognized by a patron who snapped a couple of photos of him building register.

The pics?appeared on television and also on Twitter, but?any “job shaming” initial reaction soon gave way to a second wave of actors, directors, and fans sharing their support for Owens, praising his work ethic, and?offering their own individual stories of day jobs they loved pay your bills. And already Owens himself has spoken out about his sudden viral celebrity within a new?Good Morning America interview which you could watch below:

Despite the fact that he went viral a couple weeks ago, Owens claims it isn’t really to begin with he was recognized while working at Trader Joe’s:

People recognized me every single day. And so they were cool over it. Sometimes too cool! Like they’d be similar to “Oh you work here?” Like, yeah. It was no issue.

Owens?told Robin Roberts the renewed attention hadn’t led to new acting job offers yet, but which he was okay with that. “I wouldn’t feel safe getting acting jobs using this event,” Owens explained. “I wouldn’t mind getting auditions. I would not mind if people call me within test for things as a result of what’s happened. Nonetheless actually wouldn’t idea someone giving me a job as this happened. I must purchase a job because I’m the right person for that job.”

Owens?also said not a soul should feel sorry for him due to the fact he was working at Trader Joe’s. Actually is well liked added that he or she hopes this complete incident forces people to rethink how they examine work. And that is certainly an effective lesson for just anyone.
