Robert Redford says he’s retiring from acting. He’s making good on a comment he offered 24 months ago which the end was near.
He tells Entertainment Weekly which he can still direct. He won an Oscar almost 30 years ago for directing “Ordinary People.”
His last film, “The previous Man plus the Gun,” are going to be released at the conclusion of September.
Redford hasn’t ever won an Oscar for acting. He was nominated just once in 1974 for “The Sting.” One issue that he’s not much of a campaigner– he’s never put much stock in soliciting awards. But he has got loads of films which is why he will need to have been nominated, from “The Candidate” and “Jeremiah Johnson” to “Butch Cassidy as well as the Sundance Kid,” “How you Were,” “3 days in the Condor,” “Out of Africa,” “The many President’s Men,” and much more recently, his brilliant are employed “All sheds.” He had also been excellent as Dan Rather during the little seen “Truth.”
Redford’s not going away. He still runs the Sundance Film Festival and many types of its organizations. He’s a vocal environmentalist. And perhaps he’ll almost certainly direct again, too.
