Paul McCartney Number 1 as “Egypt Station” Gets Final Sales Surge from Revelation of Beatles Pleasure-Fest

Paul McCartney, his team, and Capitol Records really should be likes to show off themselves. “Egypt Station” finished its first week at # 1 with huge numbers. These were as cool as predicted and er, came within the last minute.

The album, McCartney’s first in 5 years, sold 145,777 copies based on BuzzAngle. In addition to that, but 140K of the sales were pure CDs and paid downloads. Streaming was minimal.

That news is a plus because those are ‘real’ sales, with higher royalties. And fans wanted the album package and keep, besides take note of passively. We were holding committed.

McCartney worked being a dog within this debut. The marketing strategy has been intense, beginning the 2 main James Corden shows on CBS. McCartney also appeared at private fan shows within london and New york city, and streamed warriors online. Spotify is carrying the audio of McCartney’s Abbey Road show from London.

And to know? Maybe McCartney’s revelation he and Lennon pleasured themselves together as people years ago was the last magic. At the beginning of the debut week, “Egypt Station” wasn’t doing that well. By Wednesday, prior to when the NY Post cover recalling the raunchy story, the album was just at 25,000. But once the anecdote– which broke in GQ magazine’s UK edition– hit the media, clearly there was a last minute, ahem, improvement in sales.

Back over the 13th, Hitsdailydouble.com and BuzzAngle were predicting McCartney sales between 115 and 125K. So something definitely aroused those sales. Most punsters fashioned Beatles titles to visit in conjunction with it, but few realized McCartney had already given them the ideal pun within the new album using the song “Think about it in my experience.”
